The Bay Search and Rescue Organisation

The speaker at the recent meeting of Kendal Rotary was Helen Clark from the Bay Search and Rescue organisation who gave an illustrated talk on their work and function.

The service founded in 1996 and registered in 2000 covers all of Morecambe Bay, an area of about 120 square miles as well as sometimes travelling further afield if requested.

The organisation has grown dramatically and now has many different types of craft which allows them to cater for any type of rescue in all conditions. For example, quicksand rescue with their specialist equipment, town centre flooding, snow rescue, and animal rescue which includes whales, seals, horses, cattle and sheep.
