My best wishes for a happy and fulfilling New Year.

Many thanks for your support and involvement during the past six months. 2012 is shaping up to be an eventful year in all sorts of ways. The Olympics and Jubilee celebrations will no doubt dominate the middle of the year and we have a full calendar for the next six months.

We are planning to showcase Rotary, and do some fundraising, around Rotary Day at the end of February. We are hoping to have access to premises on Kendal's high street from Wednesday 22nd to Saturday 25th February. All money raised will go to the End Polio Now campaign. Remember - Rotary is "This Close" to achieving the target!

We will be organising our Kendal Jubilee Walk, aimed at younger people in Kendal, on Saturday 21 April, and there will be a Jubilee Concert, featuring the Regent Singers as well as a well known local male voice choir, on Saturday 26 May. I am therefore looking forward to a busy six months: there is a lot that we can achieve.

From President Richard..
Almost half of the Rotary year already gone! We are again sending out 'Thanks' certificates to those who have helped us over the past year, and we have included a list of activities and causes with which the Club has been involved.
This does bring home just how busy we are, and I very much appreciate both the support that you have given me as President, and also the work that all members have put into such a variety of activities. The support of Inner Wheel members is also much appreciated, particularly when events have required a lot of volunteers.
A particular welcome to Brian Baird, who has recently joined us.
As we head towards the holiday season, I would like to wish all Ro-tarians and their families a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year.
From President Richard..
In November we have a focus on Youth Opportunities with Youth Speaks and the Young Photographer competition. We have had an excellent number of entries for the Young Photographer competition, and we will aim to publicise the winning entries in the next few weeks.
Youth Speaks has been well supported by local schools in recent years, and in 2010, the team from Windermere School went on to win District, Regional and National events.
The success of the competition is very much helped by us providing a good audience on November 7th. I hope all those members who are able to, will come to this event. It is always a most enjoyable evening.
